Brown Center for Adaptive Aquatic Therapy at CSUN
- The Brown Center for Adaptive Aquatic Therapy at California State University, Northridge was funded by a grant and matched by an Act of Congress leading to one of the only facilities of its kind in the country. Often referred to simply as the Brown Center, the space provides adapted therapeutic exercise programs for people with moderate to severe disabilities in water-based fitness classes. These classes use a wide range of specialized aquatic exercise equipment and devices, including four treatmentspecific pools: a movable floor pool, a cool pool, a whirlpool, and a main therapy pool. Since its opening in 2003, the Brown Center has provided compassionate service to the community, helping thousands of people overcome pain and disability, while training CSUN students as professionals in adapted exercise and fitness programs, producing some of the best physical therapists in Los Angeles.
